I started a blog because I wanted to learn from others, help others and continuously improve my financial situation. Personally, the goals of my blog are to help you achieve the following:
- I don’t like debt… but I don’t hate it.
- Any money that I save or invest is solely focused on making the best return possible.
- Work hard, but enjoy the present. You never know when life will get cut short. It doesn’t matter how you make money. Just be passionate. Even gamblers and farmers become millionaires!
Tracking your money is important, too. Learn from our money blogger interviews and then find a way to roll out your strategy.
About Kalen Bruce of MoneyMiniBlog
Kalen Bruce writes short articles about money and productivity. His wife and him had $24,000 of debt and they wanted out, so he became a student of finances. They are now completely debt-free and focused on building wealth. Like me, he wanted to share what he’s learned to help you achieve your personal finance goals.
I love MoneyMiniBlog’s philosophy of: “To improve your finances, you must first improve your habits.”
Kalen believes that he can help you improve both. Now that you know a little more about our money blogger…
Let’s dive into our blogger interview questions.
What is the one piece of advice that you’d give to people just realizing that they need to get their ‘financial fitness’ in order?
Any time is a good time to start. It’s always better to start earlier, but you can only start as early as today. Start automating everything you possibly can so that you can focus on what you can’t automate. Automate your bill payments, giving, investing, saving and debt reduction, and then focus on learning everything you can about the method of investing you’re interested in.
What do you hope to accomplish in the near-term and the long-term to gain financial independence?
I’m saving to buy our next car for the short-term, to avoid going into debt again. Long-term independence will come through automated investing in my retirement.
What are your favorite forms of passive income?
Dividends, affiliate links on MoneyMiniBlog and rental income.
What have you learned from creating passive income streams? Do you like to take your side income and recycle it into new opportunities?
I’ve learned that I need more rental properties, and that I need to automate and outsource more of my blog to obtain more passive income in that arena. Millionaire Mob wants to live mortgage free as well and you can do it by using rental income to pay for your mortgage.
Do you have any mentors or people that you follow that have influenced you to be financially independent?
Absolutely! I have several… at least 7 I can think of off the top of my head. One would be Dave Ramsey and the other six personal friends of mine.
What is your favorite way to attack personal debt?
The debt avalanche, and then working as hard as you can to get to debt-freedom as soon as you can. Here are some other ways to clear debt fast.
What inspired you to create your site? What’s one thing that you didn’t know that you know now?
I was inspired to create MoneyMiniBlog because I wanted to help people with their finances. I’ve now learned that I actually love the process of writing and publishing.
What are some things that you wish you would have done as a young professional if you knew what you know now?
Started investing larger amounts and making sacrifices earlier. Millionaire Mob totally agrees with this statement. We are trying to live off dividends forever. Through a couple case studies we learned that increasing your income and investing early is paramount. There are plenty of ways to increase your income: you can flip sneakers or find an online job.
How did you get to where you are today? What are the key areas of focus to be financially free or financially fit?
I got where I am today by automating everything I could, and then staying disciplined to cut my debt out in under two years. Life is so easy without debt that anyone can be financially free once they hit that point. But to start with, I got where I am by reading book after book on how to do everything with money that I didn’t know how to do.
