I can’t believe how many people don’t realize the opportunity for cash rewards for ordinary purchases. These are some of the best cashback apps that you must have.
Best Cashback Apps: Drop vs Ibotta vs Dosh
The rebate market has moved from a traditional mail-in system to a fully automated system that takes little to no effort to earn rebate money. A number of these rebate apps will literally give you cash just for signing up.
These rebate apps are a great example of how technology has made things more efficient in our lives. Earning rebate income is like passive income. You just go about your ordinary business and earn some cash in return.
Here are some of my favorite apps that will give you money just for signing up.
What are cashback apps?
Cashback apps are mobile applications that will give you cash reward value for routine purchases. Cashback apps have effectively replaced a mailing model for rebates. These rewards programs either link directly to your bank accounts or require a receipt showing proof of purchase.
These cashback apps consume little time to earn significant cash value. I love these small wins for earning rebate money. I usually transfer it right into my investment account to make this money work while I sleep.
I love using these apps for work purchases as I end up receiving cash for no dollars out of my pocket. What’s not to love about that?
The Best Cashback Apps
What people don’t realize is that sometimes you can stack all of these apps together to earn some serious cash back. With these apps, I was able to earn up to 11% cash back (or more) at Whole Foods. Read more about my shopping hack at Whole Foods to see if you can earn that type of cash back.
- Drop (Get 1,000 points by using my link)
- Ibotta (Get $5 by using my link)
- Dosh (Get $5 by using my link)
These apps will give you free money just for signing up. If you sign up for all three, that’s $11 of free money. Why not try them? I know a lot of things that I can do for $11.
Let’s breakdown Drop vs Ibotta vs Dosh and see what rebate apps are right for you. You may want to consider using all three. However, if you are like me and don’t have significant time, you might only want to focus on one or two rebate apps.
The first cashback app that I highly suggest that you have in your rewards program profile is Drop. This app is completely seamless for you to use. When you sign up for Drop, you get to link to five primary stores that you can earn points. I selected Target, Uber, Chipotle, McDonald’s and Walgreen’s. I figured these were the most logical and common spots that I stop at.
Each store has it’s own earnings value, so you earn higher for shopping at different locations. Drop will just track your purchase so there is nothing that you need to do at all.
There is bonus earning opportunities as well that you can earn 10,000 points like Dollar Shave Club. This can be a great way to get $10 back for buying something that you were going to purchase anyways.
I love these type of small wins because it enables me to save faster and it’s basically worry-free earning. The redemptions for this cashback app are done in the form of gift cards rather than complete cash back.
Is Drop safe? There is always a level of risk when you give your login credentials to a mobile app. I think they have enough security in place that my information won’t be compromised. I’m comfortable with it.
I’ve earned over $50 with Drop. It’s not going to break the bank, but it keeps me earning money back that will save me money down the road as well. Why not use it?
Remember, you if you sign up on Drop with my link you will get 1,000 free points.
Ibotta is a Denver, Colorado-based mobile application company that allows users with its smartphone app to earn cash back on in-store and mobile purchases with receipt and/or purchase verification. I think Ibotta is better than Ebates. However, it’s pretty similar to Ebates.
In order to redeem on Ibotta, you need to add certain products into your profile. Once you buy them at the store, you simply take a picture of your receipt and your account will get instantly credited.
The good part is that you can earn from any grocery store or any liquor store, so it’s not tied to a particular store like Drop is. Additionally, another one of the pros of using Ibotta is that they have bonus cash back programs if you use the app frequently.
They had a promo for bonus cash back every time you take an Uber ride. This was great to earn some bonus cash when I take work Uber trips!
Given that you have to add particular products, Ibotta is a bit more time-consuming than Drop and Dosh, so it’s not for everyone. This is the biggest con of using the app. It can be a bit tedious.
Ibotta is slick because they will simply send you money directly to your Paypal account.
Remember, you if you sign up on Ibotta with my link you will get $5 free.
Dosh is a cashback rewards mobile app that searches all available coupons, promo codes, and rebates and gives you cash back from thousands of restaurants, retail stores and more.
Dosh is slick because it is tied to a direct percentage of cash back. For example, they will show you a list of restaurants closest to you and their respective cash back rewards.
One of my favorite pros of using Dosh is that you can earn cash back by booking travel with the app. You earn cash back for booking hotels, flights and more. If I’m traveling for work, I can actually earn cash back for booking work travel.
Also, you can use the app to shop online and it can be pretty significant… Up to 15% cash back! Come holiday season, you should make sure to make all your purchases through the Dosh app. The stores are well-known too like Walmart, Sam’s Club, Sephora and more.
Here is what the Dosh app looks like for shopping. The dashboard is pretty slick and simple. It’s very easy to use and to add cards to your Dosh account. You simply punch in your number.
Is Dosh safe? Like Drop, there is always a level of risk when you give credit card number to a mobile app. I also think they have enough security in place that my information won’t be compromised. In addition, I have less concern about giving my credit card details out.
Credit cards have awesome security and fraud prevention that purchases could be refunded. This isn’t always the case with bank accounts.
Therefore, I have much more of a level of comfort with Dosh.
Remember, you if you sign up on Dosh with my link you will get $5 free.
Conclusion on Best Cashback Apps
These apps are all must-haves for your couponing and cash back needs. These are way too simple and easy to use to just not use them. I’ve earned significant cash back from these apps, which has helped me invest faster. I’m always looking for ways to reduce household expenses.
If you don’t like having too many apps, I’d choose to focus your attention solely on Dosh and Drop since these are completely seamless and not timing consuming at all. Ibotta takes significantly more time to monitor and add products into your profile. In addition, if you want to add products on Ibotta, you actually have to watch ads. This can get a little old.
I get anxiety thinking about how I could always be earning more in cash back. At the same time, I get very overwhelmed thinking about how many different rebate and cash rewards apps. I think it’s best to focus on a couple of them to earn money back.
Now, you need to pair these up with amazing cash back rewards credit cards! Then, you’ll start earning some awesome cash back.
